HOW DO WE DECIDE WHAT BEAUTY PRODUCTS ARE ACTUALLY WORTH INVESTING IN?

The beauty industry has never been short of recommendations, but with new products launching almost daily, deciding what is actually worth spending money on has become increasingly difficult.

Between monthly empties, influencer favourites, viral launches and endless product reviews, we're constantly being introduced to the next product we supposedly need. But how much of what we purchase is based on genuine interest, and how much is influenced by what we're repeatedly seeing online?

Social media has changed the way we discover and consume beauty. A product can go from relatively unknown to sold out in a matter of days, often before consumers have had the opportunity to understand whether it actually suits their needs.

Price also plays a role in our purchasing decisions. Luxury beauty products are often associated with better performance, packaging and formulation, but a higher price point doesn't necessarily guarantee better results. Equally, an affordable product isn't automatically a better investment simply because it costs less.

Perhaps the bigger question is whether we've started confusing popularity with quality.

When recommendations are coming from every direction, it's becoming harder to distinguish between products that genuinely perform and those that have simply benefited from good marketing.

Ultimately, the value of a beauty product is personal. What works for one person may not work for another, and a product's popularity doesn't determine whether it deserves a place in our routines.

As the beauty market continues to grow, knowing what is worth investing in may have less to do with discovering the next big thing and more to do with understanding what we actually use.

With love (and frankness),
