THE BEST FAKE TANS FOR A NATURAL GLOW, YEAR ROUND.

Whether you're after a subtle glow or a deep bronze, fake tan has come a long way from the streaky formulas most of us remember. The biggest difference now isn't finding a good tan, it's finding the right one for your routine.

Some people swear by face drops they can mix into their skincare, others want a mousse that develops overnight, while gradual lotions are perfect if you'd rather build colour slowly than commit to a full tanning session.

Here's where I'd start.

Face Tan

You wouldn't use your body moisturiser on your face, so your fake tan shouldn't be any different. Face specific formulas are lighter, easier to control and designed to work alongside your skincare without clogging pores or grabbing onto dry patches.

Tanning Mousse

If you like a deeper tan, mousse is still hard to beat. It develops evenly, gives the richest colour and is usually the easiest formula to apply with a mitt.

Gradual Tan

Perfect if you prefer building colour over a few days rather than tanning all at once. These double as body moisturisers, making them the easiest option to keep up with.

A good fake tan shouldn't be obvious. Prep your skin properly, moisturise dry areas before applying and remember that hands and feet always need less product than the rest of your body. Get those three things right and almost any good formula will do the rest.

With love (and frankness),
