Chanel will stage its Resort 2027 show in Sydney on November 5, 2026. It's the first time a house of this scale has brought a runway show to Australia.

Australian fashion has spent years building a case for itself on the global calendar. The argument has always been that this market is serious that the talent is here, the audience is here, the creative culture is here. What’s been missing is the kind of moment that makes the rest of the world agree.
This is that moment. Not because Chanel’s presence validates something that wasn’t already real but because it signals that the global luxury industry has stopped treating Australia as a market to sell to and started treating it as a place worth showing up for. Those are different things.
The timing isn’t coincidental. Chanel has been quietly building its Australian presence for years a new flagship, local ambassadors, First Nations models championed across campaigns and covers, Australian names walking international shows. November 5 is when that accumulation becomes a statement.
Whether it leads anywhere is the real question. One show doesn’t restructure an industry. But it does make the next conversation easier. It gives Australian designers, buyers, editors and talent a new piece of evidence to point to. It puts Sydney on a list that previously didn’t include it.
The venue hasn’t been announced. That’s the next thing to watch.
With love (and frankness)
Bea xx
